SRG's work is based on a shared public service vision that cuts across our different organizations and informs all that we do. We believe this vision both anchors current efforts and guides our explorations of new strategies, new technologies, and new services. It has meaning as a framework for local action. It is the foundation for SRG's national agenda.
This is an evolving vision, reflecting the learning of our work together, the changing environment in which we serve the public, and the growing capacity that we share. The key points:
Importance and Value.
We will increase our importance and value to the public by strengthening our fundamental strategic position. We are trusted and sophisticated producers, selectors, and context setters for content of high quality and depth that is presented with respect for our audiences' intelligence, values, and sensibilities. We will preserve this role in the broadcast medium and extend it to additional channels.
We will achieve greater use of public radio program services by the public, at a level that-across multiple stations-will reach ten percent of all radio listening in the nation's larger communities. We will do this by improving operations on existing stations, adding new broadcast outlets, and presenting, in each community we serve, multiple program services that are internally coherent and differentiated from each other. We will achieve additional use of our services by employing new delivery systems and forging partnerships with other information and culture providers that appeal to like-minded communities.
We will build the financial capacity, civic leadership, professional management, and strategic vision of our organizations in ways that seize the strengths and confront the limits of our different organizational settings. We will explore new organizational configurations and collaborations to achieve greater impact and productivity for our work.
We will foster a broad awareness and appreciation of our stations as a significant force on the civic and cultural issues of our time, encourage voluntary private support and investment of public funds, and attract talented people to commit their careers of public service to our work together.
